Unrepentant Geraldines is the 14th studio album by American singer & songwriter Tori Amos. Amos, born Myra Ellen Amos is most well known for her enchanting voice, piano finesse and complicated woven lyrics. Exploding on the Alternative Rock scene amidst a male dominated territory in the 1990’s, Tori Amos has been captivating audiences since 1994 with her breakthrough album “Little Earthquakes”. Often called the female equivalent of Kurt Cobain, Tori Amos has gone on to create a loyal and devoted fan base and sell over 12 million albums worldwide.
According to Tori Amos her newest album “Unrepentant Geraldines” aims to foster female empowerment and the ability to be “unrepentant” or unforgiving and reflects Tori Amos’s desire to stretch and go all out – without holding anything back and experimenting musically. Many critics are saying “Unrepentant Geraldines” is Tori Amos going back to her pop music roots and claim this is her best album yet to date.
I have been a fan of Tori Amos since the very beginning. I still vividly remember the first time I heard “Crucify” from her debut album “Little Earthquakes” I was 12 or 13 years old at the time and just coming into my own when my aunt introduced me to her music. I have listened to Tori Amos music so much over the years I can recognize her music from the first few cords and I always have the tendency to sing along (like a out of tune quacking bird).
Music, like the wisp of a scent has the ability to take our minds soaring back to a time long ago. Tori has kept me company through the trials and tribulations of my life with her music. “Unrepentant Geraldines” is the Tori Amos we all once knew, the music is soothing and luminously melodic. The tunes come through the speakers like light through the trees, giving the room full of life with her music.
The most surprising aspect of “Unrepentant Geraldines” in my opinion is the musical debut of Tash, Tori Amos’s 13 year old daughter. Natashya “Tash” Hawley sings vocals with Tori on the albums 8th track “Promise”. Tash’s voice is enchanting and melodic and I have become obsessed with the mother/daughter duo track. It’s ironic to me that Tash is the age I was when I first started listening to Tori’s music. Full circle.
Unrepentant Geraldines is served to us in Tori Amos’s signature style with melodic tones and intrinsic lyrics. Once you have given the album a listen, the music will get in your head and you will sing along intrinsically. Give my favorite track “Promise” featuring Tash a listen and you’ll see exactly what I am talking about.

I am a huge Tori Amos fan. My favorite album is a tie between Little Earthquakes and From the Choirgirl Hotel. But they are all really awesome.
