Last week I was expecting a package, a thank you gift from a client that was valued at over $250. So, I was slightly anticipating it, kinda sorta emailing the client every other day and maybe checking the tracking every 5 seconds. I slightly, kinda sort, maybe wanted that package. Badly.
I finally got the package in an evening between the hours of 10pm and 4am. I know that specifically because I went out the night before and came home around 9:30pm through the front door. My husband found the package on our doorstep when he left for work the next morning at 4:15am.
This morning there was another package on the porch. I went out to retrieve it, and I found an object wrapped in a white plastic Target bag. My first thought was that it was something out of my husband’s car that he didn’t want to bring back in. I brought it in the house and inside the white plastic bag was a sand shovel. And it was wet. The bag wasn’t wet, but the shovel was.
So I texted my husband and asked him if he left it on the porch. I mean, this is kind of a dumb story to tell you all I realize that, but his text back to me is what prompted me to share this story here on the blog.
My guess is that the thank you package from a client was originally delivered to a neighbor and they (rather creepily) dropped it on my porch in the middle of the night.
My other guess is that the same neighbor wrapped the sand shovel (they probably found in their yard with the sprinklers on) in the white plastic Target bag and put it on my porch. You know, instead of just throwing it on my lawn with all the other thousands of toys?
Either way, thank you neighbor, for being quietly “neighborly”.
