What is your love language? My love language is doing small things and making an extra big effort to those that I love and care about to show them just how much I love them. I love making fun and easy themed recipes that put a smile on my children’s faces the most. In honor of Mother’s Day coming up in just a few weeks, I baked up a batch of the most delicious shortbread Bonne Maman wild blueberry preserves thumbprint cookies with homemade icing for my children and for my mom. My mom loves blueberries (and so do we!) so whenever I make a recipe using wild blueberries it makes me think of her. My mom is easy to please and she’ll love these cookies that are being sent to her in Oklahoma.
Bonne Maman is 100% all natural
The secret to Bonne Maman homemade deliciousness is their ingredients. Bonne Maman Preserves are 100% all natural, no High Fructose Corn Syrup, no additives or color and Gluten-Free, Non-GMO and Kosher. You can’t get any better than that! I chose to make wild blueberry preserves shortbread cookies because blueberries are the perfect berry – not too sweet and not too tart!
Bonne Maman Wild Blueberry Preserves Thumbprint Cookie Recipe
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Bonne Maman Wild Blueberry Preserves
1 cup of unsalted butter (softened)
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
Pinch of salt
Directions:
Combine softened butter, sugar, salt and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Beat mixture at medium speed until creamy. Slowly add flour, beat at low speed until mixed well. Cover, chill in refrigerator for 1 hour until firm.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Roll cookie dough into 1 inch balls. Place dough balls on cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Make a deep indentation in each dough ball with your thumb (get it? THUMBPRINT cookies!). Using a small spoon (I used a baby spoon), fill each indentation with Bonne Maman Wild Blueberry Preserves.
Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on cooling racks.
Homemade Icing Recipe
The addition of homemade sugar icing to the shortbread thumbprint cookies is a match made in heaven that you will love.
Ingredients:
1 cup powdered sugar
1-3 teaspoons of water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
Whisk powdered sugar and vanilla extract in small bowl. Slowly add one teaspoon of water at a time to desired consistency. Stir well.
Once the cookies have cooled completely, drizzle icing on top using a zig-zag motion.
