Just last Tuesday, my youngest got a hold of my computer and dropped it on the ground – causing the hard drive to break. My computer is currently in the hands of a computer dude who will be installing a new hard drive today. But that doesn’t save my old hard drive with thousands of pictures and documents on it.
I balled like a baby.
I have a few external hard drives but I knew it had been awhile since I had “backed up” my information. I was terrified to see just how much I had lost. I cried over those unknown and lost forever pictures and tried desperately to console myself that I still had my Instagram images and the images I had uploaded to Familiar and Facebook.
Once I had the guts to look, I was relieved to see that I backed up in May, just after the baby’s (the same baby that dropped my computer) first birthday. But I’m still missing all of the summer, my daughters 3rd birthday, the first day of 1st grade, halloween and yadda yadda yadda.
Although it’s possible to recover some of those images if I am willing to pay the price, I’m going to resolve that they are lost for now and if I’m ever able to get them back it’ll only be a bonus.
In the meantime, I have been obsessively looking at the 13 images I got around to uploading on facebook. Of course the 13 images are just a tiny, tiny, tiny, minuscule amount of how many I took this summer, at least they’re something.
So, I present to you…the baby’s curls:
