Get Ready To Get Dirty…(and Stinky)!
The Dirty and Stinky Show is coming to Amazon Video on September 2nd! Based on the children’s beloved “I Stink!” book series by Kate and Jim McMullan, The Stink & Dirty Show follows the adventures…and misadventures faced by best friends Stinky the garbage truck and Dirty the backhoe loader. Stinky and Dirty are a dynamic duo of resourcefulness who learn when things don’t go as expected, asking “what if” can lead to success. They don’t always do things the way you’d expect—like reusing trash as makeshift tools and materials—and for them, hilariously failing turns out to be one of the most fun paths to success. We had the amazing pleasure to attend the Stinky and Dirty premiere held at The Grove a few weeks ago. It was a wonderful celebration of the adorable show. This is a sponsored post, all opinions are my own.
It Stunk…and then I STINK was conceived.
It isn’t very often (or ever in that matter!) that we have the opportunity for a relaxed and intimate encounter with an amazing team of professionals behind a streaming production. We had no idea what to expect when we arrived to the Stinky and Dirty premiere held at The Grove in Los Angeles, but we were completely blown away. Sitting in the theater amongst us were the filmmakers, animators, directors and even their children and families. Before the show, Kate and Jim McMullan writers of the “I Stink!” book series spoke to the audience. It was then that Kate McMullan gave us insight to the book series creation. She said that in their first New York City apartment that was located on the 5th (or 6th) floor, a garbage truck would park beneath their window and it was STINKY. Unfortunately, the garbage truck was so stinky and disruptive even though they were several floors above it. One day, Kate McMullan was looking out at the stinky garbage truck and she thought “there’s a story here” and that’s how the “I Stink!” book series was conceived.
Not What You Expect?
Unlike other children’s shows, The Stinky and Dirty Show prides itself on it’s unique use of “camera” views and it’s child-like visual and audio perspective. The creators of the show truly aimed to create a show from a child’s point of view. Therefore, some of the “camera” views are lower than you would expect and there is a great emphasis on sound effects. My kids and I loved it! They also loved the kids activity stations at The Stinky and Dirty Show premiere. The show lends itself to the best themed party. Between the mud pie creation station, building blocks, train mix creation station and live music it was the best after party ever.
The Stinky & Dirty Show was part of Amazon’s kids pilot season last year, a unique development process that gives all customers an opportunity to stream and review pilots in order to help choose the next Amazon Original Series that are then available to Prime members.
We had an amazing time at The Stinky and Dirty premiere and kids after party and we are definitely Stinky & Dirty fans for life!
