Get Ready!
New animated adventure, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie is getting set to slash and build across theaters nationwide this Friday September 22nd 2017. Brought to us by Warner Bros. Pictures, and the LEGO franchise, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie is the newest LEGO inspired animation to join the amazingly entertaining and hilarious LEGO Movie franchise. Who doesn’t love the original LEGO Movie? Because Everything IS Awesome! We were lucky enough to be invited by Warner Bros. Pictures to The LEGO NINJAGO Movie press conference held at Legoland in California, all opinions are our own.
All Star LEGO Cast
Directed by Charlie Bean, Paul Fisherand Bob Logan, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie stars Dave Franco, (my fav) Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Zach Woods, and the legendary Jackie Chan. In this big-screen NINJAGO adventure, the battle for NINJAGO City calls to action young Master Builder Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, aka La Lloyd, along with his friends, who are all teenage secret ninja warriors. Led by Master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, The Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s “La Lloyd” dad.
Get Ready for Meowthra
Similar to the other LEGO Movies in the franchise, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie is hilariously funny with plenty of humor and entertainment for the entire family (ages 3 to 100 years old). Unlike the other movies in the franchise however, I feel as though The LEGO NINJAGO Movie is set to entertain today’s Youtube-loving, Snapchat-taking, Facebook-sharing generation (hey! that includes me too!). I loved the film and I know you and your family will too. My favorite character was obviously Garmadon because I have a serious crush on Justin Theroux, but I also loved Meowthra. Lookout for Meowthra!

My family and I were invited to attend The LEGO NINJAGO Movie press conference held at Legoland, California as guest of Warner Bros. Pictures. We also received tickets to the park and a night stay at the world-renowned Legoland Hotel. It was a chance-in-a-lifetime experience that I am so happy my children and I were able to partake in. I love getting behind-the-scenes and in-depth movie making experiences. Warner Bros. Pictures did an excellent job at making my family and I feel welcome and at home. My kids are huge fans of swimming and we fully utilized the Legoland Hotel pool. We also had the opportunity to ride the new Legoland NINJAGO ride! If you haven’t had the opportunity yet, you must ride it! It’s an interactive arm workout that is a total blast.
The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Press Conference
The LEGO NINJAGO Movie press conference was held theater style at the Showplace Theater. This press conference was unlike any other press conference I’ve ever attended. Luckily for us, kids were invited to attend and they were encouraged to ask questions! Sometimes kids can ask the best questions because they are innocent and unassuming. I think that was my favorite part of the conference (other than seeing Justin Theroux in person of course…drool).
Like all press conferences there is much to be heard and learned about the movie and the movie making process. I have chosen my favorite tidbits to share with you here!
The Stop Motion Look and Feel of Real Plastic
Producer Chris McKay, who directed the LEGO Batman movie and also has been with the franchise from the very beginning emphasized that the movie makers wanted The LEGO NINJAGO Movie to feel like kids are playing with toys. They attempted to make it as tactile and photo-real as possible so that it replicates the idea of what it feels like when you’re playing with your toys. So, that’s what the filmmakers love about it – they try to replicate the stop motion look and feel of real plastic. And Chris McKay think it brings a real charm to these characters. That’s what’s fun about these movies. It also feels a little bit reverent and innocent.
Karate is Good For Your Brain and Good For Your Health According to Jackie Chan
When Jackie Chan was asked what advice he would give future kung fu artists and karate artists he answered in a perfect Jackie Chan way: “That’s it’s just practice. You know, you don’t have to practice to knock somebody down, just quick, like, martial arts, like, exercise. Karate is good for your brain, good for your health, good for your everything. You know, when you know martial art, you respect everybody, your parents, your teacher, and the nature, the whole world. I think martial art is a good exercise sport.”
Loving La Lloyd Through It All
When Olivia Munn was asked what she thought about playing Lloyd’s cool and caring mom she responded: “It was what I loved about this character was that she was…what I wanted to play the mother as just the eternal optimist, that she’s got Lloyd, her son, is going through a really tough time. And she just wanted to love him through it, that no matter what he brought to her, whatever attitude he might have that day, that she wasn’t going to judge him for that moment, that she was just going to keep loving him through it.”
Where “La Lloyd” came from
It was Justin Theroux’s who voices Garmadon idea to mispronounce Lloyd throughout the entire film. Even though Lloyd is his own son! Lloyd is spelled with L-L-O-Y-D so it’s a funny addition to an already hilarious film.
We cannot wait for you all to see The LEGO NINJAGO Movie in theaters nationwide September 22nd! You will love it as much as we do, we promise! Log on to the Official LEGO Ninjago Movie website for more info.
