Workman Publishing sent me a copy of The Kids’ Book of Paper Love to check out and is partnering with me for a giveaway
Unplug and CREATE
Remember when we were kids and the only “screen-time” we got was from the TV? And that TV was in the living room where we had to share it with our stinky younger brother? Kids these days have screens to keep them entertained in every room and in every size. The modern parent struggle is to find ways to entice our children to unplug.
The Kids’ Book of Paper Love allows children to loop paper strips into a paper chain, fold a paper house, make photo booth props, construct a paper flower bouquet, a paper terrarium, there is also a foldout paper banner, postcards, glitter stickers, a paper doll, a two-sided poster, and so, so, so much more. My youngest daughter is quite crafty. She has been creating multi-media art for about 6 months now. When I was given the opportunity to review this book, I just knew that it would be the perfect fit for her.
With The Kids’ Book of Paper Love, kids will find they can slow down, enjoy the pleasures of paper, and write, craft, play, and share in a completely screen-free way. The books begs to be folded, cut up, collaged, doodled on, and shared.
My daughter got right to work creating a birthday card for one of her classmates. She has told me several times that this is the coolest “book” she has ever seen!
A surprise on every page!
Brimming from cover to cover with projects and other paper surprises, The Kids’ Book of Paper Love, from the bestselling editors of Flow magazine and books, is a bounty of a book that is designed to allow children’s minds to expand and create.
The majority of the projects in the book are open-ended. Meaning, that children can create what they want. There are also several pre-created projects as well, to get them started. They can snip out bookmarks. Fold a paper house. Make photo booth props—a silly mustache, a crown—to pose with friends. Bind up a DIY storybook and use it to sketch out adventures and dreams. Construct a paper flower bouquet, a paper terrarium, a fortune-teller with prompts like Lend someone a book and tell them why you recommend it. The possibilities are endless!
Several days after creating her first project, my daughter has been rushing to use her Paper Love book everyday to create more! I love that!
Thanks to Workman Publishing, one very lucky The Funny Mom Blog reader will win their very own copy of Paper Love and a $50 gift card to Michaels to inspire more creativity at home. To enter the giveaway, simply use the Rafflecopter widget below.
