I am a member of the Netflix Stream Team, all opinions are my own.
There are tons of things we have to teach our children; things like: when to eat, when to sleep, how to ride a bike, how to tie their shoes, how to blow their nose but the most important things we as mom’s can teach our children is how to be good, how to be nice, how to be successful and most of all: how to be happy. If you really think about it, the enormity of our responsibility is kind of…terrifying.
One of the important ways I try to ensure that my kids are growing up as wholesome as I can possible get them, is by providing them with not only educational television programs but ones that teach sincere morals and lessons as well. I research new programs and new movies before I let them watch them and in fact, there is a looooong list of things they are forbidden to watch. Not because “I’m such a mean mom!” as my 7 year old likes to shout, but because I know the importance of the visuals and lessons we introduce to our children have a ginormous impact.
A Time For Giving
This Thanksgiving, I want to teach my children the importance of friendship. The holidays are a time for giving, for sharing and for being together. Knowing that I am trying to raise my children to not only be intelligent and successful, but I also want them to be endlessly happy as well. Friendships, good friendships are the key to happiness. There are thousands of little ways you can help your kids be friends every day.
Teaching kids friendship is easy:
Writing Thank you notes
Writing a pen pal
Helping a younger sibling
Helping siblings do anything at all!
Calling a sick friend or family member
Saying “please” and “thank you”
Creating playdates
the possibilities are endless!
When my oldest was very little someone gifted us with a VeggieTales movie and I instantly fell in love with it. I know that every VeggieTales movie and cartoon is going to teach invaluable lessons and morals to my kids and I appreciate that.
