As parents there is only so much we can do to teach and guide our children to become successful, responsible adults before they need more guidance from others. The old adage “It’s takes a village to raise a child” reflects just that – it takes more than one person to teach a child the ways of life. Other than the child’s immediate family, the first people to influence them are teachers.
“It Takes A Village To Raise A Child”
I had the fortunate opportunity to have a few key teachers that really helped shape who I am today, like Mr. Becker who taught me the important lesson of taking organized notes, or my high school English teacher who taught me the importance of being trustworthy and honest. I am eternally grateful of both of them. I can only hope for the same for my children to cross paths with a teacher that will truly change their lives.
Every Day Teachers Across America Go Above and Beyond
Teachers devote their lives to the enrichment of our children’s future. The hours are grueling, the pay is scarce and the appreciation often times comes up short. So what can we do to help?
Office Depot, Office Max and Adopt-A-Classroom have partnered to raise awareness about teachers, and all that they do in the lives of their students. Did you know that teachers spend money every year out of their own pocket, especially in underfunded areas? And now you can give back by donating to a teacher and registering your classroom at Office Depot online.
How does it work?
Find and fund a classroom – Donations can be made in $5, $10, $25, $100 and more denominations (donations of $25 and more in order to choose a classroom).
Teachers purchase supplies online – Teachers can purchase the things their classrooms need to engage, inspire and enrich children’s lives such as pencils, markers, arts & crafts, classroom decor and more.
Students have what they need to succeed – thanks to your donation.
Donors receive updates on their impact – get the warm fuzzies and feel good about helping.
Help Someone Special
You can help a teacher like Jeffrey Wright who is a physics teacher in Louisville, Kentucky. His classroom is full of experiments from plasma balls, to hovercrafts. He teaches students to apply what they learn to real life. A big part of science is failing, and he teaches students that it’s okay to fail but to keep trying. He believes you have to give back to make the world brighter.
