Living in Southern California has several perks, the most obvious being the near perfect year-round weather and pristine beaches. The near year-round perfect beach going weather means that going to the beach in the cooler Fall and Winter months is not only doable, but totally acceptable.
Going to the beach with toys is always more fun. From boogie boards, skim boards to shovels a beach play day will only last longer with even more entertainment. The newly released D6 SurfSkimmer is the newest and hottest active beach toy on the sands this summer. The D6 gives athletic children ages 5-10 years old the opportunity to glide through the sand with ease and skill. It’s the first of its kind product with Gripper Technology and an easily removable handle. It’s the perfect skimboard or bodyboard for an entry level action sports fan. The handle easily comes off so each of the boards has the ability to act as a traditional skimboard or bodyboard. While the big kids are out there shredding while the little guys look on in envy, now they can join the fun in a safe way with the removable handle so everyone will be happy!
Given the opportunity to review the brand new D6 SurfSkimmer, we packed up our bags immediately with the board in tow and headed to the beach. Although my son is a very active, athletic little stud, he is still somewhat timid with beach sports and it took him a little bit of time to warm up to the D6 SurfSkimmer. The moveable handle was a huge help in handling the board.
The key to gliding across the water with the D6 SurfSkimmer is to wait until the water is retracting and you have a clear stretch of beach (free of other beach goers). Then get a running start and push off just like on a scooter. The black stripes on the board are grippers and super great at holding your foot in place. The handle bar gives extra support as you glide through the water. I tried it myself and it was awesome.
The kids and I took the D6 SurfSkimmer to the beach with us several times and each time I had the intent to shoot video of my oldest skimming across the water but to no avail. With the 2 little ones in tow, I was more concerned about their safety and making sure they didn’t eat to much sand that I never had the opportunity to film him. However, I know that we will be going to the beach again and thankfully summer is never over in Southern California with the D6 SurfSkimmer.
