You may or may not have heard about a new film that was released today. A little diddy about some wars in the stars in a galaxy far, far away. I kid. I kid. Of course you have heard that the 7th installment of the Star Wars franchise Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released across theaters nationwide today. There’s been enough hype and expectation of this film for what feels like an eternity now. Have you been to the grocery store lately?
I took my almost 9 year old son with me to the media preview at the Disney Animation Studios on Tuesday night because I knew that this was pivotal moment in his childhood. I had to take a picture for the books.
As members of the media we have been asked in severe length to not release any spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and I promise you – you will find no spoilers here. I am a true avid movie going fanatic and I love being surprised in the theater, it is like watching an art unfold before me and the more I don’t know before sitting down the better. I mean, I don’t even watch trailers for movies. So I get it Star Wars fans, I get it. But why should you see Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
Because you have to. That’s why.
It was 38 years ago that a dorky boy’s dream came true, alive on screen were the characters and worlds he envisioned and an entire country fell in love with his perspective and his unique vision. An entire subculture was created around Star Wars and there is no bigger a fan than a Star Wars fan. Back then, George Lucas created Star Wars for boys and I am here to say that JJ Abrams (Director/Producer) of Star Wars: The Force Awakens is for a whole new generation.
No longer a boys only, geeks allowed movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is an all-inclusive film for everyone. The new characters (Daisy Ridley (“Rey”) Adam Driver (“Kylo Ren”) Lupita Nyong’o (“Maz Kanata”) John Boyega (“Finn”) Oscar Isaac (“Poe Dameron”) and Gwendoline Christie (“Captain Phasma”) are an eclectic mix of characters each with their own uniqueness that brings a rich, diverse humanity to the film. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will close a chapter and open a new one, an even better one dare I say that makes me extremely excited for the next two Star Wars films.
Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)

Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015)

Fans of previous Star Wars films will jump for joy at the nostalgia of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Movie goers to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens that have never seen previous films will jump for joy at the entertaining, enthralling and spectacular film.
The last thing I want to say about Star Wars: The Force Awakens is: hold on to your seats for an entertaining ride.
