Back Again For More
A few Saturday’s ago I took my 7 year old to Six Flags Magic Mountain for a high flyin’ good time. We went to ride all of the rides and to check out the awesome Pokemon Trainer Challenge booth and to see all the new Tomy Pokemon toys. Our friends the Prince’s joined us for a high flyin’ good time too.
I had not visited Six Flags Magic Mountain since I was a senior in high school (273,000 years ago) and I was excited for an fun, baby free, adrenaline rush of a day. We visited the Tomy Pokemon Trainer Challenge right away to avoid the potential long lines. It was a fun activity and my son was obsessed with the Tomy Pokemon Pikachu shooter. His obsession allowed me the time to get my bearings on the park map. The shooter worked by a tug on Pikachu’s ear and a yellow disc would shoot out of it’s mouth. Of course he wants the toy for Christmas now, I can only imagine the dog and cat being chased around the house and shot with Pikachu.
Funny Fact: When I was a kid, my uncle George took me to Six Flags Magic Mountain a few times. Once, when I was just about the age my oldest is now Viper was the brand new and hot ride but I was just a wee bit too short to ride it with my uncle George. So he put huge folded wads of paper towels in my shoes to make me taller! It didn’t work but it sure was funny.
Pint Sized Thrill
Since my 7 year old had never been on a proper roller coaster before, I had the brilliant idea to start the boys out somewhat slow to build them up to the major roller coasters the park offered. We headed to Bugs Bunny World for some pint sized fun. I would love to take my little kids back sometime, they would love Bugs Bunny World.
One super cool and helpful feature of the Six Flags Magic Mountain map is that the rides are color coded by thrill level: “Thrill Seekers in Training”, “Moderate Six Flags Thrills” and lastly “Maximum Six Flags Thrills”. Each ride is labeled with a short description of each ride and the height requirement too.
Six Flags Flyin’
After we visited Bugs Bunny World we walked past Goliath-the scariest ride in the park (in my opinion of course), I suggested to Kim that we take the boys on it and she agreed. It took a little coaxing but we got on…and it was NUTS. I’m not a fan of the feeling of falling and Goliath features a 255 foot vertical drop. I about died. It was during the ride that I had second thoughts about taking my little 7 year old on it, so I applied the “mom seat belt” and held on to him so he wouldn’t fall out (crazy I know) but I looked over and he was smiling. When the ride stopped he said “THAT WAS AWESOME!” The after ride picture was the best-there I was holding on to him with my “mom seat belt” and he was grinning from ear to ear.
Taking our boys on Goliath was like pulling off the band-aid really quick because every ride we rode the rest of the day was pale in comparison. That and having each other to hang out with made for an awesome day for both boys.
Flyin’ and Totally Awesome
The Saturday that we visited Six Flags Magic Mountain was warm but not unbearable and it was crowded but not crazy crowded like other Southern California amusement parks. We were able to ride every ride that we wanted to at least twice, some rides we even rode more than twice. We stayed until the park closed and it was epic. It was such a fun day with our friends having a flyin’ and totally awesome day. Thank you Tomy toys!
