In the fast paced, technology driven society we live in today it is comforting to know that timeless companies like See’s Candies are keeping their old-fashioned traditional values in the forefront of their business model. See’s Candies has a rich family focused heritage that has been making chocolate confections out of only the finest ingredients for over 9 decades .
Canadian born Mary See created her delicious, delectable bites of chocolately goodness in her black and white floor tiled kitchen in Pasadena, California almost 93 years ago. Mary See’s oldest child and her only son: Charles A. See, founded his candy company in 1921 with his mother’s beloved recipes. A picture of Mary See is on every box of See’s Candies and many of Mary’s same recipes are used to this day (Chocolate Walnut Fudge, Victoria Toffee, Hand-Dipped Bon Bons and Maple Walnut Creams).
See’s Candies stands for quality, tradition and old-fashioned virtues and has flourished as a company over the last 93 years by not compromising their integrity. The first See’s Candies store located at 135 Western Avenue North in Los Angeles opened in 1921 when Model T Ford cars only cost $300. Today, there are over 200 See’s Candies shops around the country.
The newest See’s Candy shop to open at The Grove in LA continues to set the high standard of quality, tradition and service to The Grove in LA customers. Recently, I was invited to a media preview of the new store and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to meet See’s Candies spokespeople and eat gobs and gobs of candy. We were invited to try packing a box of See’s candies ourselves in a competitive “I Love Lucy” style to demonstrate how well See’s Candies employees hand cordination and fine motor skills are. I must declare that it is an art that I cannot seem to master to pack those candies so nicely and neatly within their iconic See’s candies brown paper wrapper and into the box.
If you are in the Los Angeles area, you absolutely must stop by for a free sample (and a box of chocolates!):

I was invited as a media guest to the See’s Candy at The Grove in LA media night. All opinions about the chocolately goodness are my own.
