Thank you to Warner Bros. for sponsoring this post. Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. Gang have teamed up with generationOn, the youth family division of Points of Light, to inspire, equip and mobilize kids, parents and Scooby-Doo fans to create meaningful change in their communities.
‘DOOing’ Good Makes You Feel Good
Have you ever wanted to do something good for your community but you didn’t know where to start? Well, have no fear, Scooby-Doo in conjunction with generationOn have banded together to help solve the ‘mystery’ of where to start doo-ing good and fixing problems in our communities. With the motivation to help make children and their families make their mark on their communities and the world, Scooby-Doo and generationOn would like to encourage us all to learn the value of service and volunteerism.
For me, there was something about becoming a mother that urged me to focus on things and needs that were bigger than myself. Besides the obvious needs of a screaming newborn, I immediately felt the urge to help the community at large. Now, even all these years of being a mom later I run by the motto of: “see a need – fill a need”. That’s why when Warner Bros. contacted me about a community service project I jumped at the opportunity. I, just like you, know that now more than ever inspiring the next generation to engage in social good programs at an early age is important in developing a life-long commitment to social responsibility.
My kids and I helped Create Visible Change!
Scooby-Doo and generationOn promise that no matter how small, we can all create visible change in our communities.
In preparation for Earth day and with a helpful heart and an attitude of gratitude my children and I were invited to climb aboard the Mystery Machine to join non-other than Scooby-Doo himself in a day of doo-ing good in our LA community. We headed to Mid City’s Prescott Magnet to assist Enrich LA in their amazing school community garden. My family, along with several other local influencers families helped turn the community garden over from a winter produce to a spring produce garden. My kids were absolutely enthralled with the task as they dug holes, weeded, hauled compost and planted fruit trees. I felt proud of them and of their hard work. Believe me when I say it was an amazingly rewarding experience and I would do it all over again in an instant.
