Last week I was invited to a luncheon hosted by the Poipu Beach Resort Association in Kauai to hear all about the tropical island paradise from Poipu Beach representatives. My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Kauai in 2004 and I fell in love with the “garden island” during our newlywed stay and I was excited to hear more about Poipu beach.
Yours truly on my honeymoon in Kauai, snorkeling at Poipu beach in 2004.:
Poipu beach is located on the sunny south side of Kauai just 20 minutes south of the Lihue airport. The Garden Isle of Kauai consists of a perfect string of white sand crescent shaped beaches, charming shopping, gourmet restaurants and perfect weather. Poipu Beach maintains its “small town Aloha” feel by keeping a mandate that no building can be built taller than a mature Coco palm tree (4 stories high) and also by the absence of fast food chains.
Representatives from the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, Koa Kea Hotel & Resort, The Parrish Collection, The Beach House Restaurant, The Wine, O.F.F. Organic Functional Fitness and Outfitters Kauai were present at the Mondrian in West Hollywood luncheon last week to present and answer questions to a group of eager journalists (myself included).
Sitting at my table was Diann Hartman from the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, JP Parrish from The Parrish Collection and Ce Lucente from Outfitters Kauai. I asked Ce Lucente from Outfitters Kauai for his personal recommendation for the perfect adventure for my family which includes a wiggly 9 month old, a 2 year old terror and an energetic 6 year old. Ce recommends a river raft excursion with the wiggly 9 month old in a carrier. The rafts the Outfitters Kauai uses are sturdy ocean quality and therefore safe for families. Ce said we would paddle ourselves aboard the rafts to a waterfall before being driven back to our starting point. Sounds like the perfect family adventure in Kauai to me!
The entire Poipu Beach luncheon had me daydreaming of a Kauai vacation immediately. In matter of fact, taking my family to Hawaii is on my 2-3 year bucket list, in honor of Poipu Beach I have created this masterpiece:
That’s me and my 3 kids on the beach. Check out my purple bikini – hey, we can dream right?

I was invited as a member of the press to attend the Poipu Beach luncheon. All Aloha opinions are my own.

Ahh man! The only reason I started a blog was to be invited to Hawaii! Now my hopes are dashed. Just kidding! It’s on my 2-3 year bucket list too! And I almost made it happen this year. But the DH has decided this will be the year we make the trek to sunny/humid South Dakota to see the MIL. Happy Happy Happy!

two omissions.
Most importantly I was at that table too and see no mention of me (or Shelby). Secondly, uh where’s the mister in the picture? LOL
