Let me start off by saying – how cute is my kid right here?
I grew up with a strong love of books, we read as a family every day well into my teen years. My favorite kinds of books as a child were books with large, bright pictures and a funny story. Now as a mother of 4, I cherish reading quality time with my kids and I appreciate books that tell not only an interesting story, but one with a lesson or moral as well. If we can enjoy some quality time together, have fun and learn something at the same time – everyone wins.
The Pigeon Needs a Bath! Is the 8th and newest book in Mo Willem’s Caldecott winning picture book series. Mo Willems is a #1 New York Times best-selling author and illustrator and has been awarded a Caldecott Honor on 3 occasions – for Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity. Mo began his career as a writer and animator on Sesame Street. We received a copy of The Pigeon Needs a Bath! for review purposes, all opinions are my own.
The Pigeon Needs a Bath! is an adorable tale about a very dirty, stinky bird that refuses to take a bath. After some much needed persuasion he does in deed hop in and finds himself enjoying it. Although my kids look forward to bath time every evening (and they cry if they don’t get to take a bath) I can see this book being helpful to parents of kids that are stubborn in the bath taking department. It is an easy, fun read with cute pictures.
The Pigeon Needs a Bath! is a 9×9 hardcover book perfect for the 3-5 years old age set. It retails for $16.99 and is available at your favorite bookstore starting on April 1st 2014.
I didn’t even set these pictures of my youngest son up, he just happened to grab our copy of The Pigeon Needs a Bath! and plopped himself on his bed. I simply grabbed my camera and let him ham it up for fun. I mean, you die of all that cute too right? He was enjoying looking at the pictures of the dirty pigeon:)

Actually, Mo Willems Pigeon books are my daughters favorites, so my daughter is SO excited to read this one. Her favorite is Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late. The best part is, I love reading them too. I think they are really funny, and reading them is fun for me. She makes me read either Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late or Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus every night, so it’d be nice to have something new in our bedtime collection!
