LET’S GET STUFFED
Thanksgiving: that one holiday when we all gather around the table and stuff ourselves to the gills with cuisine we only eat once a year (because lets face it – do you regularly cook sweet potatoes or green bean casserole like on a random Tuesday?) is just around the corner. My personal fav dish on Thanksgiving is a dollop of perfectly mashed potatoes either doused in gravy or just left plain it doesn’t matter. In honor of giving thanks I am sharing my most favorite perfect herb mashed potatoes here with you. You’re welcome.
Also, in the spirit of the gut stuffing season I have joined up with Savvy Sassy Mom’s in a holiday blog hop where the best and brightest bloggers have gathered each week to present the tastiest eats, craftiest crafts and most stylish styles. You can join in on the fun too! But first, let’s talk about my perfect herb mashed potatoes some more…
Smood what?
A few weeks ago I was sent a really cool kitchen gadget that I have been dying to show you guys, all opinions are my own. It’s called a Smood and it’s made from Dreamfarm. The Smood makes smooth mashed potatoes in seconds, it actually works as both a whisk and a masher and I am in love. It effortlessly creates perfectly mashed potatoes in seconds by trapping the potato and forcing it through the thin gaps between the collapsing stainless steel spring coils. There is a small silicone flange on the side of the Smood that makes scraping the pot clean super easy. Pick a Smood up today because I said so (OK and you want to).
Perfect Herb Mashed Potatoes Recipe
Ingredients
1 pound of Yukon Gold Potatoes
1 stick of salted butter
1/4 – 1/2 cup Whole Milk
1/4 cup Sour Cream
1/2 Salt
1/4 Fresh Ground Pepper
1-2 Springs of Fresh Rosemary and Thyme
Directions
Boil water in a large pot. While waiting for the water to boil – Clean and peel the yukon gold potatoes (making sure to use a sharp vegetable peeler makes the job go faster). Funny Mom Tip: line the bottom of your sink with a paper towel to catch the potato skins and make for cleaning up a breeze. Cut the potatoes in halves. Place the halved potatoes in the boiling water and let boil approximately 20 minutes or until the potatoes are well cooked. Using a strainer, remove the potatoes from the pot and place in large bowl. Put butter in with hot potatoes and use Smood to smash potatoes and butter together. Add salt, pepper and sour cream. Add milk 1/4 of a cup at a time to achieve desired creaminess. Once your potatoes are mashed and creamy add fresh herbs. Add lots. It’s so good!

The Secret is in the Potato
The key to perfectly herb mashed potatoes is cooking the potatoes until they are well cooked and using a tool like the Smood that will mash and whisk your potatoes to a creamy consistency. Using fresh herbs in this recipe is key for an ultimate herby holiday taste. You’re going to absolutely love it I promise!

This post just inspired me to incorporate more herbs in my meals. I don’t think I have ever had thyme in my potatoes. I’m always looking for a way to switch things up a bit in the kitchen. Thanks for sharing!
