Better Personalization
Not only are you streaming the hottest shows and movies on Netflix, but now you’re personalizing your viewing experience with every episode or movie you watch. Starting April 5, Netflix is giving viewers another way to personalize their entertainment experience by launching a thumbs rating system that lets you rate what you love (or don’t) and make discovering new content that much easier. We are members of the Netflix StreamTeam, all opinions are our own.
Goodbye Stars, Hello Thumbs
That’s right. No more stars. Meet thumbs in their place. Netflix is retiring their five-star rating system and replacing it with a simpler and more intuitive thumbs-up and thumbs-down. A thumbs-up tells Netflix that you like something and want to see similar suggestions. A thumbs-down lets them know you aren’t interested in watching that title and they should stop suggesting it to you. You can still search for it, but it will no longer show up on your homepage.
In either case, using thumbs helps Netflix learn even more about your unique tastes so they can do a better job suggesting stories they think you’ll love.
