Traditions in Motunui
One of my favorite things to do with my children is to watch movies. Actually, it’s one of my personal favorite past times and I make it a point to see as many movies as possible. I’m totally going to be one of those weird grandma’s in the theater by themselves just to see the newest movie out. Because of my love of all things film, I am making it a Friday evening family tradition with my kids too. We watch a family friendly film every Friday (or Saturday) evening, make homemade pizza and snuggle. Thankfully, there are tons of movies that we all love – because we all love Disney movies! Our favorite Disney film of 2016 was most definitely Moana, the story full of aloha spirit. This is a sponsored post on behalf of Disney Home Entertainment, all opinions are ours alone.
About Moana
The 56th film from the Walt Disney Animation Studios, Moana sets audiences on a magical voyage across the tropical pacific. Inspired by the deep-rooted sense of community in the South Pacific, Moana is a coming-of-age tale with big heart, big waves and big hair (Maui’s hair!).
The story of Moana was inspired in part by the oral histories of the people and cultures of Oceania. Three thousand years ago, Polynesian voyagers, which were undoubtedly the greatest navigators in the world voyaged across the Pacific discovering thousands of islands. These voyages were made without modern instruments but by their knowledge of the stars and ocean waves and currents. However, and seemingly out-of-nowhere their voyages across the ocean stopped…and no one knows why they stopped or why they started back up again. BUT there are lots of theories about it. In the story of Moana, the heroine known as Moana (which means “ocean”) is at the heart of the rebirth of wayfinding.
Disney Movies Anywhere!
We watched an early release of Moana via Disney Movies Anywhere last weekend. We threw ourselves our favorite kind of movie party, one full of love, family…and homemade pizza! My kids love my homemade pizza and I really went all out with the cheesiest homemade pizzas for our Moana family movie night.
My 2 year old daughter cuddled up with Pua, Moana’s loveable sidekick pig to watch the film. Pua is seriously the cutest Disney animal sidekick! It was a really fun evening and I was so happy to watch Moana at home with my kids.
Google Chromecast
We were able to watch Moana on our flat screen TV thanks to Google Chromecast. With a few simple steps, I was able to set up the Google Chromecast myself without any problems. It was as simple as plugging in the equipment and downloading the app and that’s it. Google Chromecast and the Disney Anywhere App works together seamlessly. Now we’ll be able to stream our Disney Anywhere Movies to our flat screen anytime! Disney and Google are always one step ahead with technology don’t you think? They certainly make our lives…and every boring Dr. appointment or shopping trip a whole lot easier. Thanks to Google Chromecast we were able to take the aloha from the iPad to the big screen!
Moana will be availabe Tuesday, March 7, on Blu-ray and Disney Movies Anywhere NOW!
