Allow me to introduce you to The Moodsters!
Brought to us by parenting and child development expert Denise Daniels, The Moodsters are five colorful little detectives who help kids solve the mysteries of feelings! Through Moodster toys, storybooks and an app, little kids will have a fun, educational and super interactive way to learn the vocabulary of emotions and to grow their emotional intelligence (EQ) skills.
Meet the mastermind behind The Moodsters
Denise Daniels is a child development and parenting expert who has authored several books, appeared frequently on television including TODAY and Oprah, and traveled the world working with children in crisis to help them express their feelings. All of which turns out to be great news for any parent of a young child, because now Denise has used her expertise to create a new brand called The Moodsters—interactive and engaging toys that help preschoolers learn to recognize, understand, and regulate their emotions.
During a recent interview, Denise Daniels had this to say:
“Several years ago, I founded a nonprofit organization called The National Childhood Grief Institute. It really tapped into an unmet need, because people weren’t talking about kids and grief. I had the opportunity to travel throughout world for the State Department and for other nonprofit organizations to work with kids experiencing trauma, loss, grief, family transitions. No matter what country I was in, no matter what language they spoke, and regardless of socioeconomic background, all children’s feelings were universal.
Then it became my mission to help kids understand their emotions, and to help the caring grown-ups in their lives teach them about emotions. Many of these children don’t have the cognitive capacity or the vocabulary to talk about feelings. It’s our job to give them the words.”
Being a kid is tough!
There are new emotions and feelings everyday, but they don’t always have the means to express themselves and the way they feel. That is why I love the idea of The Moodsters because it will help kids begin to learn and identify what those feelings are, making them less frustrated in the process!
The Moodsters are a new brand of really great kids products that I feel great about. Available at Target, The Moodsters Meter is an interactive teaching toy that will give children a basic vocabulary of feelings and helps them express themselves all while having fun! The Meter has a special Power Up button enabling children to point the arrow to the Moodster that represents how they are feeling, opening doors for calm communication about emotions. It also includes full-color, 32-page storybook along with the meter.
Recently, my youngest son and I sat down together and read the book while the older kids were at school. He was enraptured with the story line and he loved the color pictures! I am excited to see what else The Moodsters has in store!
Log on now to learn even more about The Moodsters.
Every parent has a thermometer for taking a child’s temperature now every house should have a Moodster Meter for taking a child’s emotional temperature! Young children don’t always have the vocabulary to describe their emotions, so the Moodster Meter provides a safe, fun, interactive way for kids to show how they’re feeling inside.
They just push the Power Up button to align with the character and emotion that represents what they feel: Snorf (sad), Lolly (loving), Quigly (afraid), Razzy (angry), or Coz (happy). By putting the tools for expression right in their hands, the Moodster Meter makes it so much easier for young kids to talk about what’s going on inside.
The Moodster Meter comes with a full-color, 32-page storybook, Meet the Moodsters. The Moodster Meter will be available at Target and Target.com in September $19.99.
