Bam! Pow! Thwack! Thanks to Desiree Eaglin, I was able to take my husband and my son to see Marvel Universe Live! In other words, the quest for the Cosmic Cube! The bad guys want world domination and the good guys want to prevent that at all costs. The Cosmic Cube is the key to it all. But Thor had shattered the cube and scattered its’ pieces across the globe. All the makings of a worldwide adventure! Can the beloved Marvel super heroes save us or will their evil counterparts succeed in taking over and enslaving us all?
Marvel Universe Live! had tons of sound and visual affects, pyro-technics, well choreographed fight scenes at every angle (on the floor, up high, on motorcycles, in vehicles, hanging from above), amazing motorcycle stunts, spot-on costuming and super fun acting that kept us at the edge of our seats.
The visual affects used in the show made me feel like I was being transported from one location to another…like I traveled with the story. The use of a huge screen, the lighting affects on the stage floor and laser lights all contributed to that feeling of “being there” whether that be in Tony Stark’s high rise apartment, the freezing Tundra, atop the Statue of Liberty or one of the other global destinations in which the super heroes would be battling for the Cube. My little guy wondered how they traveled so quickly. Thankfully he concluded that it was simply because they are super heroes. With all that “travel” and since he was so immersed in the story and getting carried away from one locale to another, my little guy actually felt a little motion sickness.
I really thought this was going to be an Avengers show, but this live production brought so many amazing super heroes to life before our eyes. The cast of characters was extensive. Of course, the Avengers were a huge part, but other characters were not downplayed at all. I have to admit that seeing my hubby smile just as big as my son at the sight of Spider Man kind of made my heart melt.
Looking back, the mom in me loved that the story line included so many great lessons. The characters were brave, they trusted one another and showed real team work, they were persistent, investigative and boys and girls were treated equally. Before seeing the show, I thought this was a show geared at only boys that some girls might like, but seeing the show made me think, “Yayyyy for girl power!”. Why have I not realized before this how many female super heroes (and villains) there are? If I had a girl, I’d take her in a heartbeat!
Thanks Desiree for such a fun night out with my guys! It’ll be one we don’t forget!!!
