Now through March 27, Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County are working together for the 2nd year to raise money for breast cancer awareness, services and research by offering special “Pink Tickets” and limited edition specially designed Knott’s for the Cure “pink” merchandise.
We had the honor of attending the 2nd annual Knott’s Berry Farm for the cure 2015 Pink banquet, held at Knotts Berry Farm in honor of breast cancer awareness. All opinions are my own. This year the banquet honored fellow blogger and dear friend Jaime Jenkins whom I have had the pleasure of knowing and the honor to hug in person several times. A mom of two young children, Jaime has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, however despite the odds she is a beautifully powerful force of inspiration in many lives. Jaime has a beautiful life, a tremendous heart, the warmest hugs and a huge, beaming smile. It is an honor to know her and it truly is a pleasure to be in her company.
After the banquet and speeches from Jaime and members of the Susan G Komen Orange County organization, we all walked over to the Jaguar ride to watch the breast cancer survivors take a ride. This may be my most favorite aspect of the day. Seeing all of those women dressed in bright pink with the wind whipping in their hair and smiles plastered on their faces is truly happiness contagious. Jaime rode front and center on the ride, with her arms high in the air and her signature smile on her face.
In 2014, the successful two-month partnership between Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County helped raise almost $100,000 for the organization. The money raised provided under served and under insured women and men in Orange County with access to breast health care and services.
75% of the funds raised for Susan G. Komen are used to provide local services throughout Orange County such as Breast cancer detection and treatment education, Information and support for breast cancer survivors and families and Funding for free mammograms for uninsured and under served women. 25% of the funds raised for Susan G. Komen support national research to discover the cure for breast cancer.
You can have a day full of fun at Knott’s Berry Farm too and help support a wonderful, charitable cause – It’s a win, win!
