Although my husband wouldn’t agree, I would have to say that I have a very short bucket list. Near the very top of my very short bucket list was renting a summer house on a lake. It was my goal to watch my kids jump off the dock and into the lake. We decided that summer 2017 was going to be the summer that we bit the bullet and went on a long family vacation. We researched all of the lakes in a driving distance to us and we agreed on Big Bear Lake. As a large family (large both in personality and size) we require a good amount of space and a ton of planning goes into anything that we do. When I was in the very beginning stages of planning our first destination family vacation I knew that using a vacation rental house in Big Bear was going to be best for us. Like a lot of families, my husband needs a lot of space (free of people) and my kids require space (to run rampant). 

While searching online for a vacation rental in Big Bear I quickly realized that Airbnb was going to suit our family and our needs the best. Founded in August of 2008, Airbnb is a trusted community marketplace for people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world. Airbnb has thousands of listings for short-term lodging including vacation rentals, apartment rentals, homestays, hostel beds, or hotel rooms. Now all I had to do was choose the perfect Airbnb rental in Big Bear for our family. Hey guess what! This isn’t a sponsored post, I paid for this vacation out of my own pocket!

Tips For Picking The Perfect Airbnb in Big Bear For Your Family:

1. Location, Location, Location
   My bucket list may be short, but it’s also very specific. I didn’t want to watch my kids jump off any lake dock from just anywhere. This dock had to belong to the house we were renting. Thankfully, the user capability of Airbnb makes it very easy to narrow down Big Bear Lake locations. I simply clicked “lakeside” and wham! All the lakeside cabin rentals appeared. You can do the same thing for the location specifics you’d like. 
2. Size Matters
   Since we have 4 young children we require a lot of beds and space. It is easy to check bed availablity on the Airbnb website. I chose a cabin that had two sets of bunk beds. I knew this would be perfect for the kids!
3. Pictures Say A Lot
   When browsing Airbnb cabin rentals in Big Bear, the pictures say a lot of the upkeep, style and amenities of the property. I wanted a log cabin type feel from our Airbnb Big Bear Lake rental and I got just that!
4. Read the Description Carefully
   I would suggest reading the Airbnb description carefully, or at least twice. You want to make sure you get the amenities you’re looking for and that you understand the house rules. 
5. Read the Reviews
   Reading the reviews is a great opportunity to get detailed information about the upkeep and amenities of the Big Bear Lake vacation that you’ll be using. For example, while I was searching for the perfect lakeside cabin I came across a rental where several of the user reviews said the upstairs slider was locked and they couldn’t use the patio. So I deleted that house as an option!

I did the best that I could to choose the perfect Big Bear Lake vacation rental for our family. Not only did the Destination Big Bear Airbnb vacation rental exceed my expectations we cannot wait to visit again next summer!
