Love At First Kitten Sight
It was the summer of 2005, one day I came across this sweet little mixed breed cat that was up for adoption. There was something about her bright blue eyes and her long white whiskers. She was special and I knew it. So I went home and I talked to my husband on the phone who was out of town for business about adopting her. We were still newlyweds at the time. We had an older cat named Bucky and I knew this perfect white kitten would be the perfect addition to our family. The next day I went in and I adopted her.
After watching her and her crazy cat behaviors we named her Liger. Liger means half lion and half tiger. We were big Napoleon Dynamite movie fans of the time. Ever since, Liger has been at my side and life wouldn’t be the same without her. Liger sleeps right up against me every night. She greets me with a wide mouthed yawn every morning. She has lived through four babies who turned into cat tail pulling toddlers and then into rough housing kids. Our family loves Liger immensely.
Nutrition to Build Better Lives
Each year, millions of cats start their journey to a forever home in an animal welfare organization. One meal can make the difference in helping a shelter cat find its forever home. During the month of July, every cat lover can make a difference in the lives of shelter cats by just buying a bag of Purina® Cat Chow® brand cat food. The Purina Cat Chow “Nutrition to Build Better Lives” program will work to deliver much-needed cat food to animal welfare organizations through non-profit partner, Rescue Bank, so they can continue to focus on helping cats become healthy and ready for adoption.
Help A Cat in Need!
By simply purchasing food for your own cat, you are helping feed a cat in need. My youngest daughter and I go shopping together for our weekly groceries every weekend. I told her about the Purina Cat Chow “Nutrition to Build Better Lives” program. I want her and her siblings to know that this year, Purina Cat Chow is focused on delivering great nutrition to cats in the care of animal welfare organizations to help them become healthy and ready for their forever homes with its “Nutrition to Build Better Lives” program. Although my two year old may not have understood she agreed to take a selfie with me:
Did you know that each year, approximately 3.4 million United States cats are taken in by animal shelters and only half of those cats are adopted. During the month of July, for every bag of Purina Cat Chow you buy your cat, Purina Cat Chow will donate one meal, up to five million meals, directly to Rescue Bank. Purina Cat Chow is encouraging cat people to join in its cause to support shelter cats by buying a bag of Purina Cat Chow from July 1 through July 31.
Now, the simple act of buying a bag of food for your cat can help the cat community-at-large and feed a cat in need looking for their forever home!
