A Summer of Fun…without Breaking the Bank
We’ve had the best of summer vacations so far. We’ve camped, we’ve sailed the ocean blue and we’ve had a ton of money-conscience fun this summer. I dubbed the “2019 summer vacation” a “Summer of Adventure” for the sole purpose of having as much fun as humanly possible while spending at least money as humanly possible. Having fun shouldn’t break the bank! Or says my bank account…
Inspired by so many famous You-tubers online and also by one of our most favorite brands (Juicy Juice that is!), we decided to create SLIME at home.
You know the stuff – – that sticky, sticky, and ever so gooey concoction that has all of our kids attention? YEP, I have a recipe to make it at home! Check out our Homemade Slime recipe now!
Perhaps creating homemade slime isn’t such a strange idea to you…but for me – the crazy Type A, clean freak, plan ahead, everything-has-to-be-clean-and-organized-at-all-times…creating slime at home is crazy. I am whole-heartingly against having a mess in my house. Messes? Well they’re for school!
However
Juicy Juice knows kids and they know that parents want the best for their kids. Even if that means that us parents have to make a mess at home with…gah…homemade slime. But I learned something new while creating the homemade slime — that it can actually be fun! Fun doesn’t have to be messy or a disaster to have a good time. If you set rules (like create and play only at the table…or better yet: outside) then not only will the kids be happy but us parents will be happy to! Check out the crazy easy homemade slime recipe out below to have fun with your kids this summer too!
Homemade Slime
Materials:
1 large bowl
1 large wooden spoon
½ cup of glue
½ teaspoon of baking soda
½ cup of shaving cream
3-4 drops of food dye
10 drops of contact solution
3 pumps of foam soap
(we added glitter for some extra sparkly fun!)
Instructions:
First mix ½ cup of glue with ½ teaspoon of baking soda in a large bowl. Then mix in ½ cup of shaving cream and add 3-4 drops of food dye (the color of your choice.) Then add in 2 pumps of foaming hand soap to make your slime even more fluffier. Finally, it’s time to set the slime with contact solution! We suggest 10 drops of contact solution but continue to add in as much solution as needed until your slime is no longer sticky or stuck to your fingers.
Enjoy!
While the kids are busy creating and playing with their homemade slime masterpieces, may I suggest that you parents have some fun of your own? Take a moment of quiet to relax and reset! Read a book…(or at least an article?) while your kids are occupied.
Juicy Juice is a one of our family favorite brands because I know they care about my family almost as much as I do. They are a company designed on creating the best products to help our kids thrive…and I sincerely appreciate that.
