Allow Me To Set The Scene
It doesn’t seem too long ago, honestly. All those days and years of being surrounded by dirty diapers, nursing pads, mountains clean laundry that needed to be put away and tons of screaming pink children running around asking for things like food, milk…and clothes to wear (how dare they!). It was on days like those that I would daydream of the time when my kids were old enough to take family vacations. The idea of taking a family vacation far away from the mess and mundane-ness of the house sounded like heaven. However, the realization of travelling with all those dirty diapers, nursing pads and tons of screaming pink children didn’t sound so ideal back then. So I put the thoughts of family vacations in the daydream category. Can you blame me? Hofsas House Hotel
Lets Go Somewhere!
I have done plenty of family friendly daytrips between when my children were infants to now. Those were much easier to manage with a handful of screaming pink children. But now that my kids are older (and better yet – my husband is willing) I enjoy and actually look forward to taking family vacations with them. We were invited to stay at the gorgeous Hofsas House Hotel located in the ever so charming city of Carmel-by-the-Sea. So we packed up our ol’ family car and headed north for a long weekend full of fun family travel. We received accommodations for review, all opinions are our own.
Have Large Family, Will Travel
Travelling with a large family is not always easy. It is difficult to find accommodations that will fit the needs of a family of several thousand pink screaming children. I mean, seriously. I have four kids, but only two…maybe three of those kids (on a good day) actually like each other. So we need at the very minimum of 4 beds. The screaming pink children all wake up before the butt crack of dawn and my husband and I don’t enjoy going to bed before 8pm. I mean, we’re old but not that old. So we need a suite type of accommodation that will fit 4 beds with separate rooms and a sitting area. Now add all that in a family friendly hotel with a pool, nearby kid-friendly eateries and stuff to do at an overall price that doesn’t break the bank and you’re basically asking for the unicorn of hotels. Allow me to tell you now…I have found the unicorn of hotels at the Hofsas House Hotel of course!
The Hofsas House Hotel
The Hofsas House Hotel is a family-run boutique inn located in the quaint seaside village of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Each of the 38 one-of-a-kind Bavarian inspired rooms have Dutch doors, spacious European floorplans and a family and pet friendly atmosphere. Many of the rooms and suites have fireplaces, private balconies, wet bars or kitchens and patios for enjoying the beautiful ocean view. The Hofsas House feels removed from the congestion of civilization yet is mere minutes away from Monterey and its neighboring communities of Pebble Beach, Big Sur and Pacific Grove.
The Hofsas House truly epitomizes European elegance with the warmth of family hospitality. We were welcomed with open arms during our short visit and we fell in love with not only the Hofsas House Hotel and its staff, but the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea as well. The Hofsas House Hotel family works to ensure that every visitor’s experience is special and we definitely felt special. It was truly a magical family vacation.
I appreciated that the Hofsas House Hotel was within walking distance to everything that Carmel has to offer. Including one of my new favorite California beaches, delicious restaurants, adorable shops, tasty bars and so much more. The year round heated pool was my swimming fish children’s favorite. The pool provided my husband and I with time to relax after a long day of exploring Carmel.
Continental Breakfast + Free Wifi = The Way to Any Parent’s Heart
The Hofsas House provides a delicious complimentary continental breakfast with French Roast coffee, tea, juice, fresh fruit and pastries from a local bakery. My husband was a huge fan of the pastries and I had to stop him from eating them all! My children appreciated the free Wifi since as I mentioned earlier – those darn screaming pink kids wake up at the buttcrack of dawn and free Wifi kept them entertained as the rest of the world (or at least the city of Carmel) still slept.
The Hofsas House hotel definitely deserves to be on the top of any parents list of hotels to visit in the Monterey Peninsula. You will love it, I promise.
