I have a favorite place – a place I go to let my mind wander and my body relax. A place free of kids, free of stress, free of errands and free of things to be done. That place is my paradise. That place is the Glen Ivy Hot Springs Day Spa.
Hot Springs History
Located in the Temescal Valley of Corona California, the Glen Ivy Hot Springs Day Spa is a lush paradise nestled beneath the Santa Ana Mountains. Most well known for it’s renowned geothermal mineral baths, Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa has deep rooted American history. Temescal Valley was once home to 3 nomadic Native American tribes called the Luiseño, Gabrieleño, and Cahuilla. These native tribes believed the natural hot springs bubbling up from the Earth had spiritual power to heal the body, mind and spirit with its warm and soothing water. They built low lying mud sweat huts alongside the hot springs called “temescal” (named by the Spaniards) for celebrating rites of purification.
Funny Fact: “Temescal” is the Aztec word for sweat lodge, which is how Temescal Valley got its name.
A Spa Day is Best Spent With Friends
With near perfect weather year round, the Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa is lush, crisp, fresh and rejuvenating. I have visited the Glen Ivy Day Spa in Brea only once but I have visited the Glen Ivy Hot Springs several times. My latest trip was a late birthday gift from my husband and a well deserved “day off”. Thankfully, my good friend Kim was up to driving all the way out to the Inland Empire to spend a day with me at the spa. I don’t think she quite knew what she was in for, but I think she came to love with my paradise almost as much as I do. It was lovely to spend the entire day with her alone without the distraction of kids.
For over 150 years, millions have come to Glen Ivy Hot Springs to relax and renew, to celebrate and socialize, and to feel a deeper sense of well being. Embraced by mountains in this cathedral without walls, the sunlight shines, water flows, the garden thrives, and people enjoy it all and each other. Here both continuity and change are soaked in timeless values. It is Glen Ivy’s deepest nature to be a place of light and life, a warm and welcoming sanctuary where everyone can be who they are.
Taking The Waters
The Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa is a co-ed day spa with 19 different healing water pools, Club Mud (California’s only therapeutic red-clay bath), saunas, steam rooms, bath house, The Grotto (a underground skin moisturizing experience you must try) and of course: individual spa treatments (body, skin and nails). Cafe Sole creates the most delicious meals, including the Pear & Walnut salad Kim ordered for lunch (I got the BBQ Chicken Salad).
Admission or “Taking the Waters” to Glen Ivy Hot Springs Spa includes access to the 19 healing waters pools, Club Mud, Saunas & Steam Rooms, Bath House and plenty of Inland Empire sunbathing. The Grotto and individual spa treatments are not included.
A New Tradition
Kim and I have decided to make Glen Ivy Hot Springs our go-to relaxation meetup spot where we can unwind, relax, chat, eat and drink to recharge and reconnect. Thankfully, Christmas is coming up soon and my husband loves to buy me Glen Ivy Hot Springs gift cards!
