Small…but so MIGHTY
Please allow me to introduce you to Toy Story Universe’s smallest ever character: Giggle McDimples. Giggle MicDimples is a small but extraordinarily fierce Police Woman who just so happens to be a Polly Pocket sized character from the newest Toy Story 4 film. Trust me when I say that what Giggles McDimples lacks in size…she makes up for in might.
I had the opportunity to attend a small and intimate “round-table” interview with Ally Maki, the voice of Giggles McDimples. The interview, which took place on the Walt Disney Studios lot, was one of the very best I have had the opportunity to be a part of.
Warm AND Humble?
Ally Maki was incredible warm, humble and open to questions. Talking with her was like talking with some of my best friends. Even with the large group of women I was with, Ally addressed us all individually and took her time to answer each and every question earnest and honestly. When I say that I am Ally Maki’s newest and biggest fan, I mean it.
A Little Giggles..(aka Ally) Backstory:
Originally from Kirkland, Washington, Japanese-American actress Ally Maki moved to Los Angeles when she was 14 after being scouted by a talent agent. Maki showcased her comedic acting chops in the TBS comedy series “Wrecked” as Jess, the fun, feisty, hopeless romantic of the ensemble cast. The show centered around a group of plane crash survivors adapting to life on a remote island and adjusting to a new world. “Wrecked” premiered as the No. 1 cable comedy of 2016.
During our intimate interview, Ally gave us the insight that coming to Hollywood was difficult as a woman of color. As an Asian American, she could typically only be cast in very few limited roles. Through her struggles as a up and coming actress, Ally came upon the realization that being yourself was her greatest asset.
Landing The Roles As Giggles McDimples
One of the best pieces of advice I have ever received as a blogger came from none other than Ally Maki. She told us the story of how she was cast at the character Giggles McDimples in Toy Story 4. Apparently, out of creative boredom…one day Ally Maki and a few of her friends made a home video of Ally’s version of the “Vogue 73 questions”. In her video, Ally portrayed herself to be the tough and rugged girl she grew up to be. Being the only girl in a large family of boys, Ally was accustomed to being tough and fierce. Much like our favorite TINIEST Toy Story 4 character.
Although the home video that Ally Maki and her friends created had very little views (she claims less than 10), one of those views just so happened to be someone important in the Disney Pixar Animation department. One thing lead to another and Ally found herself voicing none other than Giggles McDimples.

During the narration of her telling us this story, I could tell among the faces of my blogging comrades that this fact resonated so much. I myself have often wondered if what I do matters, and if anyone cares. Alas! Ally Maki made me feel as if people do.
I strongly suggest you rush to the theaters to see Toy Story 4 and watch Giggles McDimples in all her small – but – mighty action!
