I have crooked teeth.
There, I said it and I feel better. I’ve always been slightly self conscious of my crooked teeth since I was a kid. A smile conveys so much about us and putting our “best smile first” is important. But if you’re self conscious about your smile then what? Get straight teeth confidence with Invisalign.
Today’s braces are more sophisticated than ever. Gone are the days of “wrap around” metal brackets, bonded brackets and big clunky head and neck gears. As technology enhances our daily lives, it also continues to advance the science of orthodontics. Invisalign is a new alternative to braces, perfect for teens, preteens and adults like me that never got braces to straighten their crooked teeth.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the clear alternative to metal braces that uses a series of virtually invisible plastic, BPA-free removable aligners that you wear for 20-22 hours a day. The teeth straighten process is easy, gradual and less painful than traditional metal braces and better yet, you can see improvements much faster since your teeth won’t be covered up by wires and brackets. The benefits include no food restrictions, ability to easily maintain healthy dental brushing habits, minimal interference with sports or other activities, and teeth get straightened without most people knowing you are in treatment.
There are only 5 steps to straight teeth with Invisalign:
1: Talk to an Invisalign Provider
During your initial consultation with a dentist or orthodontist that works with Invisalign, your needs will be evaluated and decided whether Invisalign is right for you.
2: Getting Started
Your doctor will take x-rays, pictures and impressions of your teeth, which Invisalign will use to create a digital 3-D image of them. From these images your doctor will map out a precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth. Using this same technology, your doctor will even be able to show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will move with each stage of treatment.
3: Get Personal, Custom Aligners
A series of custom-made, BPA-Free plastic clear aligners are created specifically for you that you will wear throughout the day and remove during eating and brush and floss your teeth. As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth gently and gradually begin to shift into place. And because they’re virtually invisible, most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them.
4: A Simple Process With Only Occasional Checkups
Approximately every two weeks, you will begin wearing a new set of aligners, advancing you to the next stage of your treatment. To monitor your progress, you will also have occasional checkups with your doctor, usually only every six weeks.
5: Length of Time Until You Reveal Your New Smile
The length of treatment depends on the complexity of your case and can only be determined by a certified Invisalign Provider. However, the average case takes less than 12 months for adults and a comparable length of time for teens as braces.
Now that I know the benefits of Invisalign I want it so bad! No more crooked choppers for me! Log on to the Invisalign website now for more information about the clear alternative to braces.
