Last Saturday thanks to my dear friend Desiree Eaglin of The Funny Mom Blog, my girls and I had the opportunity to return to Disney’s El Capitan Theater in Hollywood to watch the screening of the new Disney*Pixar’s movie “Finding Dory”, the girls and I were so excited because we are fond of the first movie Finding Nemo, and Dory is a big part of the success of the movie, so we of course were thrilled when the opportunity was presented to us; besides who doesn’t like to go to The El Capitan Theater? It had been a while for my girls, they were very little the last time we went there so they didn’t quite remember the theater so this was a great opportunity for all of us.
We got up early that morning and the girls put on their Finding Dory shirts we had purchased for this special event, we had a long drive ahead but we knew it was going to be totally worth it. When we got to the Theater the staff was ready for the group of people screening the movie that morning, and they directed us inside, on the balconies the Theater was decorated with reef on both sides and we enjoyed a concert of Disney songs on their one of a kind recently restored Wurlitzer organ, the girls were a bit concern since the organ did covered some of the screen but were amazed to see how just before the movie started the organ was lowered from the stage, a little bit of Disney’s magic they said.
With popcorn and drinks in hand we were set to watch the movie, I had wondered how they would tied the movies together and let me tell you it was wonderful, hearing the voices of the original cast was pretty awesome, Ellen DeGeneres as Dory and ‘Albert Brooks as Marlin; Ed O’Neill lends his voice to Hank the” septopus” one of the new characters that you will learn to love and ended up being one of my girls favorite character at the end of the movie. Kaitlin Olson voices whale shark Destiny and Ty Burrell gives voice to the beluga whale Bailey. Portraying Dory’s parents Charlie and Jenny are Eugene Levy and Diana Keaton. And 12 year old Hayden Rolence steps in to help bring Nemo back to life. Finding Dory’s key theme is family and the movie will take you through an exciting adventure of ups and downs as Dory finds herself; “She is compelling and vulnerable and has yet to recognized her own strengths” says director Andrew Stanton as well as how the characters discover the magic within their flaws, their friendship and family.
Finding Dory will be release on June 17 and it’s an excellent family movie that everyone must see!
