I was fortunate enough to grow up with a mom that loved reading, she was and still is a true book connoisseur. She adored reading to my brother and I – some of my fondest memories are about these times. Every now and then we would read a book that would directly pertain to our lives and what was happening at that time. I think life lessons read through a book quietly and indirectly help and support a child with their life’s situation in a way that resounds more with the child than any conversation can. Whether it be a new school, new baby, loss of a loved pet, potty training and the list goes on. Reading about their favorite character going through the same situation as they are can help them manage their fears and feelings in a helpful way. We received a copy of The Very Fairy Princess Graduation Girl for review purposes, all opinions are my own.
Sparkle & Exuberance
The Very Fairy Princess Graduation Girl addresses school aged kids fears of change. Gerry (the very fairy princess) who is full of sparkle and exuberance is nervous and scared about the change of graduating from her class and going to a whole new classroom the next year. Once Gerry learns that her new teacher will be a man, she is afraid that her sparkle won’t be well received and he won’t understand her. In a chance meeting during the graduation ceremony, she learns that next year will be quite the opposite.

Illustrated by Christine Davenier
My favorite feature of The Very Fairy Princess book collection besides the heartwarming stories is the beautiful illustrations by Christine Davenier. Illustrations for The Very Fairy Princess: Graduation Girl were done in ink and color pencil on Kaecolor paper. My 3 year old daughter identifies with The Very Fairy Princess completely. She adores all things sparkly and pink.
