Joan Jet of The Runaways Meets The Devil Wears Prada
Disney’s newest live action film “Cruella” is a little bit punk, a little bit rock and roll and a whole lotta fashion. In her best role to date, Emma Stone lit up the screen with her edgy charm and funny wit. Stone personified Joan Jet of The Runaways with a twinge of sassy snobbery of Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada. “Cruella” is the perfect family movie, especially for families with angsty teens. We had the opportunity to prescreen Disney’s “Cruella” and I have never had such an immediate response to a film. To say I loved this film would be an understatement.
OH THE MUSIC!
As I mentioned above, I immediately connected with “Cruella”, the cinematography is full of edgy colors, lights and angles the cast is perfect for their roles but most of all, the soundtrack is *chefs kiss* perfection.
The official boilerplate: Emma Stone stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by Emma Thompson. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.
Disney’s “Cruella” will release simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access for a one time additional fee on Friday, May 28.
