Pretend City Children’s Museum located in Irvine, California is a complete children’s imagination playground. The museum, which is designed like a mini city complete with an art studio, library, health center, gas station, marina, construction site, grocery store, bank, farm, stage, home, cafe, beach and more is a safe place for children to learn, grow and play.
One of the most unique aspects of Pretend City Children’s Museum is it’s use of community involvement. Most of the exhibits are sponsored by local businesses and families. The grocery store is a “Ralphs” complete with real (and empty) food and household products which gives the children’s imaginative play an extra special touch. The Fire Station is called “Fire Station 51”, an actual Fire Station located nearby. The home is dedicated to a different local family each month and represents their home life, culture and values. It is always a unique opportunity to learn more about the people in the community. The mixture of imagination with real life local community aspects is what makes Pretend City extra special.
Several times a month, Pretend City hosts special events that feature local community agencies. Last week the kids and I attended the “Truck Touch – Fire Friends” event. The event which was partners with the Orange County Fire Authority featured Fire Engine 51, Fire Truck 22 and Engine 339. Families had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the fire trucks, fire men (hubba hubba) and take plenty of pictures. It was a unique opportunity that was extra special. Especially for my oldest son who wants to be a fireman when he grows up! We received tickets for event review purposes, all opinions are my own.
There is always a fun event going on, I urge you to check out Pretend City’s Calendar of Events and head on over today!
