There are a few dishes that I make for my family that have the ability to do something besides just fill our bellies. Some of the dishes that I make have the ability to make us happy, warm and give us the feeling of love. Perhaps this sounds heavy handed about food, but once you try this Chicken Dumpling Soup recipe for yourself you’ll see exactly what I mean.
A friend of mine at Bubblecrumb shared a similar recipe with me about 7 years ago and I have been making it ever since. With a few added twists to our families taste, this chicken dumpling soup recipe is my favorite for cooler Fall and Winter nights and it’s the perfect slow cooker recipe when I need a break from the kitchen. As most slow cooker recipes go, this recipe is super easy to make and with just a few minutes of prep and a day full of cooking in the crock pot you’ll have a delicious meal the whole family will love.
Slow Cooker Chicken Dumpling Soup Recipe
Ingredients:
2 First Street Chicken Breasts
32 Ounces First Street Chicken Broth
1 stick First Street Salted (or unsalted if you prefer) Butter
1 white onion (chopped)
2 cans Cream of Chicken Soup
1 teaspoon parsley (fresh or dried)
1 Can Refrigerator biscuits (I prefer buttery and flakey)
Directions:
Place the chicken breasts, chicken broth, butter, onion parsley and cream of chicken into the crock pot.
Cook on high for 3-4 hours or cook on low for 5-6 hours.
Once the chicken is done cooking shred chicken with forks. I like to use two forks and a slotted spoon.
Remove biscuits from packaging and cut up the biscuits into bite sized pieces. You can choose the size of the pieces, my family loves them so I like to cut them up into small pieces so there is more to go around.
Place the biscuit pieces into slow cooker and stir.
Replace cover and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
Stir occasionally
Serve hot.
Enjoy!
As many of you know, we recently moved back to our hometown and although we grew up here, I’ve had a hard time finding a grocery store that I like (I guess I didn’t go to the grocery store much with my mom as a kid). I don’t require much in a grocery store, I just like it to be well priced, clean, organized and fully stocked. Last week we visited Smart & Final which is just literally around the corner and I fell in love with our new store. It is clean, it is organized and well stocked and it is now my go-to store for grocery shopping. While at Smart & Final I even picked up the most gorgeous bouquet of fresh pink roses! But if you don’t have time to shop, you must check out Smart & Final’s Instacart – fresh groceries will be delivered right to your door! Log on to Smart & Final Instacart and use code SMART5 and you will get $5 off and free delivery!
I hope that you love this chicken and dumpling soup for the soul recipe as much as my family does and I hope that it becomes your family favorite!
Don’t forget to check out lots of great recipes at Smart & Final. I’d love to hear your favorite!

I had planned on making regular chicken soup this week, but I like this so much better. Guess I’m stopping at S&F on my way home today. #client
