Our fabulous Funny Mom Blog contributor Devon had the opportunity of a lifetime to attend the Captain Marvel press conference. Held in Beverly Hills a few weeks ago, it sounds like Devon had the most amazing experience. Read all about her day now: Captain Marvel Press Conference

Devon here!
So many people have been anxiously awaiting for Captain Marvel for a long while now, myself included. Because of how excited I have been for the movie, I was even more excited to be invited to the press junket for it! Read ahead to see how it all went, and come back again on Friday to read my (no spoilers) review of the movie!
The talent in attendance included:
Brie Larson
Samuel L Jackson
Jude Law
Gemma Chan
Lashana Lynch
Clark Gregg
Director Anna Boden
Director Ryan Fleck
Producer Kevin Feige
Moderator: Rotten Tomatoes Editor, Jacqueline Coley
One of my favorite things about the movie is all of the wonderful 90’s references throughout it, or as Jacqueline Coley said, “it’s dripping with 90’s nostalgia and it just brought me back to my adolescence.” Ryan Fleck explained a bit, telling us how the whole team creating this movie came together and created a playlist, just to see what songs would stick and what wouldn’t until it was perfect. Speaking of the playlist, I’m absolutely obsessed. I feel like all of you will be too once you hear it.
Another one of my favorite themes throughout this whole movie is the friendship between Carol (Brie Larson) and Maria (Lashana Lynch). Jacqueline asked Brie and Lashana to talk about what drew their two characters together in the movie, and Lashana gave a really thoughtful response;
“They’re both in the military, so they come from male-dominated environments where they were drawn towards the women anyway. They would find power in whoever they find energetic connections to. So I feel like they just had a sarcasm together. They did a nice thing about how Brie has represented Carol is that she’s just a normal person. She’s able to be every facet of what a woman represents today – sarcastic, dry, funny – she can kick men down and throw them into different parts of the universe. So I feel like Maria also embodies that in a very human way. She’s able to just be a kind, good person.”
Another friendship really came to life in this junket, but in real life, not just the movie; Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson. Isn’t this just one of the cutest poses?
Also, Samuel L Jackson and Reggie. Reggie is the cat that even has a role in the film, and while Samuel does say he is not a cat person, he also says he isn’t a dog or fish person either. My favorite part was Samuel describing Reggie as “snack-oriented;” “You give him something to eat, he shows up. You give him something to eat, you talk softly and nice to him, give him something to eat again. They love you.”
Brie also told us really quick about how she is severely allergic to cats, and jokingly says that Reggie was trying to “sabotage her.” A moment later, her and the entire cast are agreeing on the fact that Reggie is the “alpha dog” of the whole cast, and how the set got “very quiet and respectful” every time Reggie came on.
Overall, this entire junket was an absolute blast, as always! Like I said earlier, please come check in again on Friday for my review of Captain Marvel. And remember, Captain Marvel arrives in theaters everywhere on this Friday, March 8th!
