You know what I love? Marvel movies! I love them! Each and every one sucks me in and holds on to me while I meet new characters, laugh and say, “Whoa!” Yes I am that person that yells, “Whoooaaaa!” in the movie theater. Don’t judge, I get really, really into it. You guys, I have to tell you, Marvel Studios Black Panther does not disappoint, this one has everything.
Stay tuned for my full review of the film coming to the blog on opening day, February 16. Today I wanted to share with you some of the fun we had at the press conference. So, while sitting in a room full of members of the media and the press, you never know if you’ll get to ask your question. You shoot your hand in the air and hope that you are chosen, but you never really know. Well, lucky me, on this day, I was able to ask my question.
The evening before the press conference, my 9 year old daughter and I attended an early screening at Disney Studios. This was her first big action, Marvel movie and she loved it! I wasn’t prepared for how perfect this movie was going to be for my daughter, but it was just that, perfect! The cast of Black Panther is full of strong, powerful and funny leading women, of color.
As my daughter and I talked about Black Panther on the drive home from the screening, I asked her who her favorite character was and what was her favorite part. I wasn’t surprised when she said her favorite character was Shuri, played by Letitia Wright, she steals all of the scenes that she’s in. When I told my daughter that I was attending the press conference the following day, I asked her to come up with a question that she would like for me to ask Shuri.
Shuri plays a princess, the sister of Black Panther and she is the brains behind all of the technology and weapons and really cool gadgets in the movie. My 9 year old wanted to know what her favorite weapon or gadget was from the movie.
“I think T’Challa’s suit’s quite beautiful. And – but I think the gauntlets is pretty dope, because her personal little thing. And yeah, it’s got like vibranium in it, and it’ just – yeah, just had a little – like – like yeah. Kitty-cat paws, where she grabs, she does some damage. So I loved those. So tell her to, you know, I’ll make her a future one.”
You are going to love Shuri and all of the weapons and gadgets that she creates in the film.
Check out the trailer below and get ready because Marvel Studios Black Panther hits theaters this Friday, February 16th.
