A “Bad Mom” Spectacle
The sure raunchy hit of the summer, Bad Moms, will be in theaters nationwide on Friday, July 29th. In a mark of ultimate luck, I had the opportunity to attend the Bad Moms screening party and press junket. The Bad Moms screening party and press junket was an event spectacle like none other I’ve seen before (n a good way, of course), all opinions are my own. It was the perfect opportunity to be my own version of a Bad Mom.
Hosted by STX Entertainment, press was invited to a screening at the IHeartTheater in Los Angeles. You know the one located at the Burbank Studios in the former home of “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” the 20,000-square-foot performance space can hold about 450 people and is typically used for iHeartRadio album release parties, and TV and radio broadcasts? Yeah. That one.
A Party…like no other
We arrived on a red carpet at the IHeartTheater and were met by hundreds of big burly bodyguards. As far as we knew, we were simply attending a cocktail party followed by a screening of Bad Moms. Unbeknownst to us, we were in for quite a surprise. I guess I should say the hundreds of giant bodyguards and watchful eyes should have been my first clue. However, I believe I was distracted by the multitudes of fellow bloggers I don’t have the opportunity to see very often, the free Stella Artois flowing like lava and the passed food that had my beer belly grumbling. After quite an eventful cocktail party, Ellen K of KOST radio station went on stage and announced a few surprises. She announced that the entire cast of Bad Moms was in attendance and that we were going to get to see Flo Rida perform.
What You’re In For
In this new comedy from the grateful husbands and devoted fathers who wrote The Hangover, Bad Moms is a hilarious tale of a group of moms. The main mom, Amy (played by Mila Kunis), has a seemingly perfect life – a great marriage, over-achieving kids, beautiful home and a career. However she’s over-worked, over-committed and exhausted to the point that she’s about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities: going on a wild, un-mom-like binge of long overdue freedom, fun and self-indulgence putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.
Cast:
Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Jay Hernandez, Clark Duke, Annie Mumolo, with Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate

Bad Moms In The House
Watching Flo Rida perform was amazing. I found an new found respect for him and his music. Seeing the entire Bad Moms cast (most especially Jada Pinkett Smith’s legs!) was really cool. But the coolest experiences of the whole Bad Moms press junket was still yet to happen.
The day after the screening party at the IHeartTheater in Los Angeles, the Bad Moms press junket was held at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Complimentary spa services were offered to every guest in attendance. I’m talking full-blown spa services. Like hair, nails, facials, massages, the works. In conjunction with the full blown spa services, 10 minute mini massages were offered by ZEAL massages and makeup and hair too. There was a gigantic buffet of gourmet food (best arugula salad I’ve ever had btw), and a gifting suite. A. Gifting. Suite. Like we were celebrities!
I had the opportunity to socialize more with some of my favorite bloggers, receive a complementary ZEAL mini massage and eat myself silly. I opted out of the full blown spa services (LA traffic is the pits). It wasn’t too long before we were ushered out onto the garden terrace for the press junket. I’ll be quite honest that I was having such a wonderful time I forgot what we were there for in the first place.
A Real Interview
I’ve had the opportunity to attend several press junkets in the past, even some pretty cool ones. But no press junket has ever been this cool and this over the top and…this real.
The Bad Moms press junket was separated into three interviews, the ambiance was perfect and the seating was very close. It felt more like a friend luncheon than it did a press junket. Each of the actresses were friendly, open, kind and very honest. I walked away with a profound feeling of team motherhood – we really are all in this together.
One of the most profound findings I came across during the Bad Moms press junket was how even these beautiful and seemingly perfect moms also have normal mom struggles and normal mom guilt about leaving their kids to go to work. Mila Kunis even admitted that very morning she felt an immense amount of mom guilt for leaving her toddler to come to the junket. It doesn’t get any more real than that! After each of the interviews we were allowed the opportunity to take a picture with the cast. I got to sit right next to Kathryn Hahn! We made small talk and she rubbed my back. I have a serious girl crush on her.
The Bad Moms screening party and press junket was an amazing opportunity to feel involved with a really funny film. I am so honored to have been a part of it (and the free Stella Artois was great too!).
Bad Moms will be released in theaters nationwide on Friday July 29th and trust me when I say: YOU NEED TO GATHER UP YOUR MOM FRIENDS AND GO!!! It is the funniest film of the summer and you will laugh I promise you!
