7th Birthday Special
After our epic day at Legoland, we had the opportunity to stay at the brand new Legoland hotel in an Adventure themed room. I received a media rate on a standard room, all opinions are my own. It was an extra special opportunity that I was so happy to give to my son and his friend on behalf of my son’s 7th birthday.
The Legoland hotel, which is located in Carlsbad, California and within the Legoland Resort is a 250 room, 3-story kids resort paradise. Each and every room is themed, in fact every floor has a different theme. The first floor is the “Kingdom” theme, the second floor is the “Adventure” theme and the third floor is the “Pirate” theme. Each room is fully decorated from floor to ceiling and filled with interactive Lego features.
Why Parents Love The Legoland Hotel
This adventure was my son’s first stay in a hotel. We have had many vacations in the past, but we always stayed in vacation rentals and not hotels. I’d have to say, that for the first ever stay in a hotel, the Legoland Hotel is pretty epic for anyone, but most especially a 7 year old boy. He was beyond excited for the adventure to stay somewhere new, especially in a bunk bed with his own TV. And I don’t even have to mention how epic the hidden woopie cushion was for the boys.
I wasn’t sure what to expect out of the Legoland Hotel. I had actually heard mixed reviews from several friends. Since I went in with an open mind and low expectations of a good night’s sleep I can say with all sincerity that I was pleasantly surprised by the Legoland Hotel accommodations. The sheets were soft, the coffee was good and the service was the best. And I slept like a baby! I think that if you go to the Legoland Hotel knowing that it is a hotel for kids and full of kids then you’ll have an absolutely great time. I had a blast, an absolute face-beaming, heart-filled, laughter-inducing blast with my son and his friend. And I would go and stay and do it all again in a heartbeat.
Why Kids Love The Legoland Hotel
The Legoland Hotel is full of child friendly amenities, more than any other hotel ever on earth.
Nightly Entertainment
As if a day of Legoland wasn’t enough, the hotel offers nightly entertainment for kids which include a comedy show and a lego building contest. Perfect for filling evening hours.
Fully Themed Rooms
Which you honestly have to see to believe. We stayed in an Adventure themed room, which was a cross of crocodile dundee meets Eygpt meets danger and mystery. Next time, we want to try the Pirate themed room.
Disco Elevator
We went up and down the disco elevator 10,000 times and it never got old.
Treasure Hunt
Hands down the boys favorite thing. They were so excited to race through the hotel and figure out the clues to open the safe in our room. The loot in the safe was also enough for the boys to share, which I appreciated.
Kids Separate Sleeping Area
I appreciated the separation and I know the boys loved the autonomy of their own space and their own TV remote. There wasn’t a door separating us either which I liked so I could hear them (and they could hear this preggo snoring). There were bunk beds and a pull out bed in the kids sleeping area – enough to sleep 3.
Heated Pool
Need I say more?
After we checked out our room, relaxed for 2.5 seconds and completed the treasure hunt, I took the boys down to the pool to wear them out a bit. I knew the key to a good night’s rest would be to run them down to a wee nub and squeeze every ounce of energy out of them that I could.
It was a chilly night but thanks to the year-round heated pool they were able to swim for about a half hour before we headed to the Bricks Family Restaurant for a stuff-your-face-with-all-kinds-of-deliciousness dinner (which was expensive but totally worth every penny since I ate about 7 plates worth of food).
The next morning, we leisurely ate breakfast and then headed down to the pool again for one more swim before it was time to head home. I got the best pictures of the boys in the pool that morning. Below is a slideshow of more pictures from our Legoland Hotel stay. If you can’t tell, we had a realllllly great time.
The only negatives I had about our stay at the hotel was the sliding door to the bathroom in our Adventure themed room and the pool towel rental situation. The sliding door to our bathroom was heavy and left a gap about 3/4″ wide. Which would be fine if it were just my family staying in the room, but since my son’s friend was with us it didn’t provide enough privacy. The pool towel rental situation was a pain since it was somewhat chilly during our stay. The boys wanted to go up to our room with their towels draped around them to stay warm, but the towels had to be signed out and accounted for and returned to the same towel cabana on the far side of the pool by 10pm. So it was an extra trip. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints.

I still think this is the coolest hotel out there for families. They did such an incredible job with this. =)
