Last week I somehow missed the Thanksgiving potluck parent signups for my daughter’s Preschool class, so I asked the teacher what I can bring and she said “a little dessert”. Well, being the overachieving, overcommiter that I am I immediately thought of creating leaf shaped fruit pureed filled cookies with a sugar glaze. When I got home I in fact realized that there was no chance in hedoublehockeysticks that I had the time or energy to create something so elaborate in just a few short hours for a bunch of kids that wouldn’t appreciate the masterful detail anyway. So I took to Pinterest and began a serach for something super easy, super inexpensive and super kid friendly. Instead of doing something pilgrim or turkey related, I searched for Native American inspired but came across nothing (so stay tuned for my own Native American inspired desserts next year). Then I happened upon a recipe similar to this one to make acorn doughnut holes and waahla a perfect preschool potluck dessert recipe was born. Here is my version of a acorn doughnut hole recipe.
How To Make Acorn Doughnut Holes
Ingredients
1 box of doughnut holes
1 jar of chocolate cake frosting
1 jar of chocolate sprinkles
1 bag of pretzel sticks
Directions
Stir the chocolate frosting. Put 1/4 cup of chocolate sprinkles in small bowl. Dip the doughnut hole into the chocolate frosting about 3/4 of an inch, be sure to scrap off on the side any extra frosting on the tip. Dip chocolate frosting doughnut hole into sprinkles, turning slightly to cover all of the chocolate frosting. Shove 1/2 pretzel stick into top of doughnut hole at a small angle. Eat.
See? It’s seriously easy. So easy in fact you can let the kids make it!
