So you work in healthcare, huh? So do I, well kinda sorta. I started working at a local pharmacy a few years ago as a means of making ends meet and to have a little something to do while all The Funny Kids were at school. Unbeknownst to me, a pharmacy technician job is as much hard physical labor as it is mental labor. Long days of standing (there are literally no chairs in the pharmacy), lifting and bending had my back and legs screaming – just as any other healthcare workers would. I knew immediately that I had to take action and find some arnica cream for natural pain relief, some good shoes and more to be able to continue working. But there’s no gate keeping here! I have come up with this list of my favorite 5 useful products for working in healthcare that’ll help make those long days easier. Please add your added suggestions in the comment section below!
Tip #1: High Quality Shoes
One of the first investments I made when starting work at the pharmacy was on a good pair of shoes. I highly recommend the Hoka Bondi 8. As the first pair of shoes that I have owned to have the The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Seal of Acceptance, the Hoka Bondi 8’s are incredibly sturdy and comfortable. Now I wear them as my everyday shoes as well. Back pain begone!
Tip #1: Pain Relieving Arnica Cream
Working long days in the healthcare industry will leave your muscles sore regardless of how the day went. Having a really good arnica cream for pain relief that actually works is so important! I like Doctor Hoys arnica cream the best. It is toxin, paraben, phthalate & aspirin-free and made with natural arnica, MSM and aloe vera. It goes on smooth and makes my sore muscles feel so much better quickly. The oldest Funny Kid even uses arnica cream after a long day on the ballfield for his tired and sore muscles.
Tip #3: Compression Socks
Varicose veins are a real thing, just ask my legs. Caused by pressure from long periods of standing and walking, varicose veins are as ugly as they are painful. Besides using Doctor Hoys Arnica Cream on my tired legs on the daily, I recommend using compression socks during the workday. Compression socks will help circulation, decrease swelling and encourages healthy movement of lymphatic fluids and keep muscle cramps away.
Tip #4: Your Emotional Support Water Bottle
The latest fad are those colorful Stanley’s that everyone (especially The Funny Teen) just has to have. I myself have a knock off version that was a fraction of the cost that I picked up from Walmart. It keeps my electrolyte drink cold to last the entire work day. Hydration is important and whatever helps you to drink your daily water while working is key.
5: Snack (Protein and Sweet!)
Working in healthcare (if I haven’t said it ten thousands already) is physically and mentally draining. That’s why I keep my moral up with snacks throughout my workday. But not just any snacks will do. I tend to pack high protein snacks that will help me sustain energy and snacks that are sweet to help me sustain happiness. My go to are Junkless real peanut butter chocolate chip chewy granola bars because they are the perfect combination of protein and sweet for me. Extra Tip: Avoid salty snacks!

I absolutely love my Hoka shoes and wear them nonstop! I have never heard of arnica cream, but I need to ask my doc about it and see if it’s something I can use. This is such a good post!
