It’s always this time of the year in Southern California that I daydream the most about traveling to far away places to see amazing things during the Fall. Perhaps it’s because here in Southern California the weather is nearly the same all year or perhaps I just have a serious itch for travelling that isn’t being scratched much. Summer time seems like too obvious of a time to travel to me for some reason, probably because every cool person and their cousin travels then. I’d much rather avoid the crowds and travel during the Fall and that’s why I’ve created this day dream list of 5 Great Fall Destinations Around the World that I would love to go to.
During this time of year the cooler, more comfortable temperatures combined with the season’s changing colors will make any travel experience a thoroughly enjoyable one. Either with or without kids you can beat the peak season crowds and save massive amounts of money with Fall vacations too.
Japan
Seeing as Japan tends to experience tropical typhoons and searing temperatures towards the end of summer, postponing any trip until the Fall makes perfect sense. Plus, you will still be greeted by warm sunshine, bright blue skies, and all the fresh sushi you can eat.
I’d love to head to the countryside and check out Japan’s mesmerizing forests, where the treetops’ bright colors cascade down into darker shades for miles and miles. I mean, it’s like a photographers dream.
Canada
In order to see the maple leaf turn a shade of red reminiscent of its national flag, I’d love to take a trip to Canada during the Fall. The country’s untouched rural areas are an astonishing sight to behold at this time of year, especially in Quebec (so I’ve heard).
Italy
Pasta anyone? While the alluring scenes in Rome, Milan and Venice will be too tempting to resist for this travel hungry girl, Italy’s more remote countryside is well worth visiting in fall as it plays host to “vendemmia” or grape harvesting season because this girl likes to drink.
I’ve heard that if you help out at one of the various vineyards by volunteering to pick and harvest the grapes that although you don’t get paid, you get to taste all of the wine produced free of charge. I mean…HELLO.
Tenerife
This remote island is the newest on my day dream travel list because as a So Cal girl, I just cannot do without sunshine. As one of the Canary Islands, this perpetually warm destination has quickly become a tropical lovers destination. I’ve read that in addition to soaking up the sun and relaxing on the beach, visitors to Tenerife can explore its volcanic landscape, go scuba diving among mesmerizing marine life and sample the local Spanish cuisine.
Michigan
My amazing friend Adrienne grew up in Michigan and according to her the fall colors in the Upper Peninsula are not to be missed. Her family took a vacation going around Lake Superior during the fall and while the lake water was extremely cold the views were worth the entire trip.
Great list right? Where do you want to travel abroad to during the Fall?
