Chores For Everyone
Kids of any age can help with chores around the house and I’ll tell you the secret of how to get them involved AND excited about helping clean: Make It Fun! That’s the key to anything in life really. I am an advocate for each member of a family to do their part to make a happy home, therefore each of my kids have their share of age-appropriate chores around the house. My boys love to do things that are active and involve some sort of game. My 7 year old loves to help with floor cleaning and my 2 year old loves cleaning the windows. With each of their help, we are able to swiftly and efficiently #CleanForTheHolidays in no time flat.
The Best Tool For The Job
Choosing age appropriate chores for kids is vital, you’ll want to make sure the task isn’t too difficult, too tedious and most certainly doesn’t include harsh chemicals. Examples of toddler chores would be folding laundry, collecting plastic dishes after meals, sorting socks. Older kids can unload the dishwasher, take out the trash and feed pets. My 2 year old loves helping me sort the clean laundry and cleaning the windows after I have sprayed them with the window cleaner. My 4 year old daughter loves feeding the cat and my 7 year old son feeds the dog and helps me by vacuuming and now mopping! We recently picked up the O-Cedar ProMist spray mop from Walmart and it is so simple, easy-to-use and seriously cleaning effective that it has changed our hardwood floor cleaning game! I used to be the only one that could clean the floors with the heavy and expensive steam mop, but the O-Cedar is the perfect spray mop for anyone to use because it is light and easy to handle.
Every family is different and every home is different, however I have created my own 3 simple floor cleaning steps for kids that have helped cleaning our home and our family tremendously.
Step 1:
Use user-friendly cleaning tools to get the job done right the first time. O-Cedar ProMist is effective, a good value, and makes cleaning easier and is perfect for holiday cleaning.
Step 2:
Make cleaning a game! Both of my boys are naturally competitive so we play “who can clean the windows the quickest” or “whomever uses the spray mop to clean the living room the fastest” wins. This completely harmless competition is fun and gets my boys in the spirit of helping with chores around the house.
Step 3:
Let the kids choose the chores they would like to do! I learned this the hard way perhaps after many hours of struggling to get some help. I have found that allowing the children to choose chores that are age appropriate and something they don’t mind doing.
Seems uber simple right? With these easy steps in conjunction with the right tools for the job, your house will also be clean for the holidays in no time flat. Don’t forget the O-Cedar ProMist is available at Walmart in the cleaning aisle!

I just picked up the ProMist yesterday and I’m convinced my girls are more excited about trying out this new tool than I am (and I’m pretty excited). I love that it doesn’t require a particular cleaner or batteries! #client

Letting the children choose the chores that they want to do is a brilliant idea. Also setting competitions and making it fun will also help with getting the job done! I am trying to get help from the kids but it isn’t easy. Cleaning the house with the help of the kids will be so great for everybody! I will also have more time for other things! I am very interested in the O-Cedar mop! It looks easy to use and efficient! Thanks for sharing! The article is wonderful! 🙂
