Football Loving Husband + Food Loving Wife
To say my husband loves football would be an understatement. Me on the other hand – I like watching the game less and eating the food that is associated best with football more. Football fan favorite foods like hot wings, potato skins, chips & dip, baked beans, mini wienies and everything else you can think of always has my mouth watering and my belly rumbling. So, while my husband enjoys the game on Sunday, Monday AND Thursday I like to have fun and get crafty with yummy, tasty football eats for us all to eat.
The best place to pick up everything I need for an ultimate football fan touchdown party is at Smart & Final: the smaller, faster warehouse store where you can get warehouse prices without the membership. It is just more practical for a mom like me to #ChooseSmart and shop at Smart & Final where I can pop in and pop out quickly and easily without the hassle.
The 3 Best Football Party Appetizers For A Touchdown Party
Narrowing it down to only the 3 best football party appetizer recipes was challenging since I love all the foods of the world. However, I chose 3 that are the heartyest, most flavorful and the most well received from each of my kids and my husband for our football touchdown party. I chose to make buffalo chicken wings served with celery and chunky blue cheese dressing, twice baked potato skins and bacon wrapped hot dogs. With a feast like this, you don’t even need to serve dinner!
I also created a fun little football banner to fest up my ultimate football touchdown party with red paper straws, string, tape, a black marker and brown construction paper. The banner added a fun little detail to our backyard football party that my kids just loved (and it made these pictures even cuter).

Twice Baked Potato Skins Recipe
Once you have one, you won’t be able to stop yourself from eating them all.
Ingredients:
Bag o’ taters
First Street sour cream
First Street sharp cheddar cheese
First Street bacon
butter spread – melted
sea salt & fresh cracked black pepper
green onions
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Choose 6-8 small to medium sized potatoes (the size of your palm). Throughout wash and scrub.
Bake potatoes in 400 degree oven for 40 minutes. Let cool slightly (for easier handling).
While the potatoes are baking, cook bacon. When the bacon is cooled cut it into bite sized pieces.
Scoop out potato with spoon, leaving about a 1/8″ ring of potato still left in the skin
Melt butter spread (that has a vegetable oil blend) and spoon/brush liberally on the inside and outside of the potato skin
Sprinkle sea salt on inside of the potato skin (this gives a crunch bite that’s tasty)
Cook potato skins in 400 degree oven for 8-10 minutes until slighly browned and crisp
Take potato skins out of the oven and put cheese and bacon crumbles in
Bake in 400 degree oven for 4-5 minutes until cheese is melted
Remove and let cool
Right before serving add a dollup of sour cream, chopped green onions and fresh cracked black pepper
Serve room temperature and enjoy!
Bacon Wrapped Hot-dogs Recipe
Can you go wrong with bacon ever? I don’t think so. These tasty bacony delights are super easy to make and they are definitely a kid favorite.
Ingredients:
First Street hot dog buns
First Street bacon
hot dogs
toothpicks – broken in half
barbecue sauce
Directions:
wrap uncooked bacon around the hot dog and secure with a 1/2 piece of toothpick (the toothpick should go through the hot dog and both pieces of bacon)
Cook the bacon wrapped hot dog on medium high heat skillet, cook until done. Pat off excess bacon oil with paper towel.
Serve with barbecue sauce
