The 2nd annual MOMS Orange County Baby Olympics and Fair was held last weekend at the Irvine Spectrum in Irvine, California. It was a blistering hot summer day but that didn’t seem to stop hundreds of folks from joining the fun at the event. Held in the Ferris Wheel plaza, the free and open to the public 2nd annual MOMS Orange County Baby Olympics and Fair featured Olympic-themed “competitions”, contests, prizes, crafts and so much more family fun.
I took my two “middle” children (my 4 year old and my 2 year old) along with me for a day of fun. They loved the crafts at each of the booths and I loved the atmosphere of family fun. We had a great time and I am so happy that we were able to attend and snap pictures like these:
MOMS Orange County’s mission is simple: they believe that every child deserves to be healthy. Serving low-income pregnant women over the past 20 years, MOMS Orange County’s programs emphasize infants’ healthy development and the prevention of childhood obesity. With fun and popular outreach programs like the Baby Olympics and Fair, the nonprofit MOMS Orange County company is able to promote and encourage families to be active and healthy with their little ones.
The 2nd annual MOMS Orange County Baby Olympics and Fair was sponsored by Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County, CHOC Children’s, St. Joseph’s Health and Kaiser Permanente.
CHOC Children’s had an ambulance on site that families were able to tour. My kids loved sitting in the seat and it was actually my first time in an ambulance (knock on wood). Also at the CHOC Children’s booth was a clinical dietician to discuss the hospital’s new breast milk donation service.
Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County provided free dental screenings to kids on its mobile dental clinic Smile Mobile 2 during the event. I poked my head into the bus and every seat was filled! The giant orange bus was parked near the Irvine Spectrum carousel.
Olympic-themed contests included a bean bag shot put, hula hoop contest, 6.6 meter waddle dash, 3.6 meter diaper dash, dance contest, daddy diaper changing contest and a baby olympian costume contest. Most competitions were set for babies up to ages 24 months. Every baby that entered the contests received a medal, grand prize winners received baby-themed trophies (so cute I die!).
The MOMS Orange County Baby Olympics and Fair was the perfect opportunity to get valuable information about Orange County resources, to have tons of free family fun and to get out and get active with your kids. I was so genuinely pleased to see so many people at the event having a truly wonderful time. The kids that came dressed as athletes were just too cute for words. The MOMS Orange County Baby Olympics and Fair is a Funny Mom Blog must see!
